Schedule: 5 days per week (1st shift daytime) Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and analyze incoming shipment requests and dispatch appropriate drivers to ensure timely delivery.
  • Coordinate with drivers to provide accurate directions, routes, and delivery instructions.
  • Monitor and track the progress of each shipment to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Communicate with customers to provide updates on shipment status and address any inquiries or concerns.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including Safety, Mechanics, and Accounting, to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of driver activities, including hours of service, mileage, and fuel consumption.
  • Handle emergency situations and provide necessary support to drivers and field personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and company policies.
  • Utilize dispatch software and other technological tools to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and implement necessary changes. Supervise the regular route trucks and dispatch on-demand trucks.
  • Take orders by telephone and through on-line communications.
  • Prepare daily schedules.
  • Coach drivers periodically in paperwork to achieve and exceed minimum standards.
  • Must use ELD systems and work with drivers to use them properly.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and drivers.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in transportation management is a plus.
  • Needs to be familiar with trucking sizes and variations, weights and limits, roads and routes, hauling dry freight of all kinds, and interstate and intrastate shipping.
  • Must be skilled in using Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Must be able to route and use map programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • TMW knowledge is preferred
